    The Apache Death Cave is located off I-40, about 23 miles northwest of Winslow, Arizona. Take Exit 230 from I-40. You'll see an abandoned gas station and dilapidated buildings covered in graffiti. The cave is located near the abandoned Two Guns interchange, between Flagstaff and Winslow. From the parking area, the cave is a short walk away. There is no fee to visit the cave.

    The Apache Death Cave, a chilling landmark on Arizona's stretch of Route 66, is steeped in a history of conflict and tragedy. Located near Winslow in the ghost town of Two Guns, the cave's ominous name hints at the dark events that unfolded within its depths.In 1878, the cave became the site of a massacre. According to the tale, Apache raiders attacked a Navajo encampment, killing many and kidnapping three young girls. Navajo warriors tracked the raiders to the cave. After discovering the girls had been killed, the Navajo warriors set fire to the cave's entrance, resulting in the death of 42 Apache. The cave has been known as the Apache Death Cave ever since.Over the years, the site has been transformed from a natural landmark to a tourist attraction. The area around the cave was once a zoo and campground, but now only ruins remain. Visitors can still explore the cave, though it's advised to bring a flashlight and watch out for snakes and other wildlife. The site is located near Exit 230 of I-40.
