Discover more about London Bridge

Lake Havasu City's London Bridge is a unique landmark with a fascinating story. The original London Bridge, completed in 1831 by John Rennie and his son, stood for over a century. By the 1960s, it was sinking and unable to handle modern traffic. Entrepreneur Robert P. McCulloch purchased the bridge in 1968 for $2.46 million. The bridge was dismantled, and each stone was numbered for reconstruction. The stones were shipped to Long Beach, California, and then trucked to Lake Havasu City. Reconstruction began in 1968, and the bridge was rededicated in 1971. The bridge spans the Bridgewater Channel, connecting the mainland to an island. Today, the London Bridge is a major tourist attraction. Visitors can walk or drive across the bridge, take boat tours underneath it, and explore the English Village nearby. The bridge is also home to bats and swallows. Some even say the bridge is haunted.
