Discover more about Alto Vista Winery & Distillery

Alto Vista Winery & Distillery is a surprising and delightful find on the island of Aruba. As the island's first and only winery and distillery, it represents a triumph of innovation and dedication, crafting wines and spirits in an unlikely desert environment. Founded by David Kock, the winery is a family-run business that adds a personal touch to every aspect of the visitor experience. The winery's location, near the historic Alto Vista Chapel, provides a romantic and peaceful backdrop, enhancing the overall atmosphere. Visitors can take guided tours to learn about the winemaking and distilling processes, from the vineyard to the bottle. The tour includes a walk through the vineyard, where different varieties of grapes are grown, and a visit to the distillery, where Red Star Rum is produced. The tour concludes with a tasting of five different wines, paired with a snack platter, and a refreshing rum cocktail. For those not inclined to take the full tour, wine and rum cocktails can be enjoyed on the scenic outdoor deck. The winery has been making wine since 2019 and uses advanced viticultural techniques to grow grapes in Aruba's arid climate. The wines are made in an artisan manner, dedicated to quality, and reflect the unique flavors and aromas of the local terroir. The winery produces five different styles of wine: Encanto Aruban Port Style Wine, Rose, Chenin Blanc, French Colombard, and Tempranillo Reserve. It is also home to Red Star Rum, a local favorite named after the Aruban flag.
