The Brewshed Experience

Prancing Pony Brewery occupies a distinctive Brewshed on Mt Barker Road in Totness, just four minutes from Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills. The venue showcases rustic-industrial charm with high ceilings, exposed beams, and vintage brewing equipment creating an authentic craft brewery atmosphere. The open-plan design allows visitors to observe the brewing process unfold metres away, with enormous reaction vessels providing visual spectacle and educational opportunity. The space was built using creatively repurposed recycled materials, establishing a homely, welcoming environment that balances industrial authenticity with comfort.

Craft Beer Selection

The brewery features 17 beers on tap, showcasing unfiltered, full-flavoured brews ranging from crisp lagers to hop-forward ales and rich, malty stouts. The herd of ponies behind the operation demonstrates expertise in long-flavoured beers with bold malt profiles and amazing hop aromas. Visitors can enjoy a single pint of their favourite, sample a paddle with multiple selections, or purchase bottled and canned packs to take home. A tasting platter of six glasses is available for those wanting to explore the range systematically.

Food and Beverage Offerings

The menu celebrates local produce with specialisation in German-influenced foods reflecting the brewery's proximity to Hahndorf and operators' background. Signature dishes include the famous Brisket Burger featuring pulled beef brisket in Pony Black Ale sauce with brewery-made pickled onions on brioche, the Southern Fried Chicken Burger, and wood-fired pizzas. Additional offerings include a Reuben sandwich with corned beef, cheese, sauerkraut, beer pickles and mustard on grilled sourdough, alongside share platters and pub classics. Children's menu items priced at $10 include hot dogs, chicken nuggets made from actual chicken pieces, and other kid-friendly options. For non-beer drinkers, quality wines, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages are available.
