Getting There

  • Public Transport (Bus)

    Start at the Hobart City Bus Station located at Elizabeth Street, Hobart. Take the Metro Tasmania bus route 446 towards Mt Wellington. Ensure you check the current timetable for the bus as times may vary. Get off at the 'Fern Tree' stop. From this stop, walk along Bronte Park Road towards the Fern Tree Tavern (about a 10-minute walk). From the Tavern, follow the signs leading to the Mt Wellington summit. The walking trail is well-marked and will eventually lead you to the North East Viewing Platform with a series of uphill paths offering stunning views.

  • Walking (From City Center)

    If you prefer to walk from the Hobart city center, head to the Salamanca Place and take Davey Street towards the southern suburbs. Continue straight until you reach the junction with Huon Road. Follow Huon Road for approximately 5 kilometers until you reach the Fern Tree area. The walk is quite lengthy (around 1.5 to 2 hours) and will take you through beautiful suburban areas.
