If you are driving from Armidale, take the New England Highway (A15) southbound towards Tamworth. After approximately 2 hours, take the exit towards the M1 Motorway. Merge onto the M1 and continue for about 90 kilometers. Take the exit towards Canberra and follow the signs for the Federal Highway (M23). Continue on the M23 for about 30 kilometers until you reach the exit for Mitchell. Turn right onto Gungahlin Drive (M23) and follow the signs to Black Mountain Nature Reserve. The entrance is well-marked and there is ample parking available.

To reach Black Mountain Nature Reserve via public transport, take a train from Armidale to Canberra. Trains operate daily, and the journey takes about 2.5 hours. Once you arrive at Canberra Station, catch the ACTION bus route 300 towards Gungahlin. Get off at the stop for Gungahlin Drive near the Federal Highway. From there, it's a short walk to the entrance of Black Mountain Nature Reserve. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as services may vary.
