The journey is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours long depending on traffic. Once you arrive in Katoomba, follow the signs to Blue Mountains National Park. You will need to park at the Echo Point car park, which is a popular starting point for accessing the Giant Stairway. There is generally no fee for parking, but it’s best to check for any updates on fees at the park entrance.
Public Transport
For those using public transportation, take a train from Sydney to Katoomba Station. The journey takes about 2 hours and trains run frequently throughout the day. Once you arrive at Katoomba Station, exit the station and take the 686 bus towards Echo Point. The bus ride lasts approximately 10-15 minutes. Get off at the Echo Point stop, where you will find signage directing you to the Giant Stairway. Note that a train ticket from Sydney to Katoomba will cost around AUD 10-15, and the bus fare is typically around AUD 2-5.
