If you are driving, start from the center of Armidale, New England. Head south on the New England Highway (A15) for approximately 20 kilometers. Turn left onto Waterfall Way (B78) and continue for about 25 kilometers until you reach the junction with Narrow Pass Fire Trail. Turn right onto Narrow Pass Fire Trail. Follow the signs for Tommys Rock Lookout, which is about another 5 kilometers ahead. The lookout is located on your right along the trail. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for unsealed roads.

If you are using public transport, catch a bus from Armidale to the town of Guyra, which is approximately 30 kilometers away. From Guyra, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you to Narrow Pass Fire Trail in Diehard, as public transport does not directly reach the lookout. Confirm the availability of taxi services in advance, and expect to pay a fare of around AUD 50-70 for the trip from Guyra to Tommys Rock Lookout.
