Construction began in 1691, commissioned by Dominik Andreas Graf Kaunitz, and was later acquired in an unfinished state by Prince Johann Adam I of Liechtenstein in 1694. The palace was completed in 1705 and served as a storage place for the princely collections until 1807.The palace's architecture features a strict Roman Baroque style with a notable main facade and a monumental portal leading to a five-aisled entrance hall. The interiors boast elaborate stucco ceilings, opulent neo-Rococo designs, and exquisite parquet flooring. During World War II, the palace suffered significant damage, but it has since been meticulously restored to its former glory.Today, the Stadtpalais Liechtenstein is owned by the Princely House of Liechtenstein and is used as a venue for exclusive events and guided tours.
