    The MMKK is located in the city center at Burggasse 8. From Neuer Platz, head east on Burggasse street. The museum will be on your right. The walk is approximately 10 minutes.

  • Public Transport

    From Klagenfurt Hauptbahnhof (main train station), take tram line 2 or bus line 40 towards the city center. Get off at the 'Neuer Platz' stop. From there, it's about a 10-minute walk to the museum. Head east on Burggasse street. A single bus ticket can be purchased from the bus driver or via the KlagenfurtMobil app. A short-trip ticket, valid for a single journey between two neighboring zones, is also available. Bus tickets to Klagenfurt can also be purchased from other cities.

  • Car

    The museum is located at Burggasse 8, 9020 Klagenfurt. Use the A2 motorway and take the Klagenfurt-West exit. Follow signs for the city center. Parking is available in the vicinity, but fees may apply. The nearest underground car park is at Neuer Platz.

The Museum of Modern Art Carinthia (MMKK) in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee is a vibrant hub for contemporary art. As an institution of the Province of Carinthia, the MMKK is committed to the collection, preservation, research, documentation, and promotion of modern and contemporary visual arts. The museum is housed in a striking modern building in the heart of Klagenfurt. Inside, approximately 1000 m² of modernized exhibition space presents both emerging and established national and international artists through solo and themed exhibitions. The MMKK also administers two art collections: the art collection of the province Carinthia/MMKK and the collection of the Artothek/National Gallery. The collections include works from the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries, with a focus on Carinthian artists. In addition to its exhibition spaces, the MMKK features the Art Space Burgkapelle, a unique venue for experimental artistic projects and installations. The museum also has a permanent exhibition of objects and sculptures in the arcade corridor on the first floor of the castle courtyard. The Burghof, an open courtyard, provides an additional 650 m² of outdoor space for artistic exploration. The MMKK also emphasizes a varied educational program, offering guided tours, creative activities, and events in literature, music and performing arts.
