Andromeda Botanic Gardens: A Tropical Oasis

Andromeda Botanic Gardens, located in Bathsheba on the east coast of Barbados, is a captivating blend of natural beauty and horticultural artistry. Named after the Greek mythological figure Andromeda, the gardens were created as both a private botanical collection and a pleasure garden. Bannochie's passion for plants led her to collect species from around the world, creating a diverse and unique landscape. The gardens feature a variety of themed sections, from vibrant orchids and heliconias to towering palms and lush ferns. A stream meanders through the property, forming enchanting pools and waterfalls, adding to the tranquil atmosphere. From 1954 to the mid-1980s, a workshop on the property was used by the US Navy as a secret Cold War submarine tracking station.
