The Manhuistuin, located on Zusterstraat in Goes, is a charming and historically significant site. Once the garden of an old men's home (manhuis), it has been transformed into a public space where culture and tranquility meet. The garden provides a serene escape from the bustling city, inviting visitors to relax and enjoy its peaceful atmosphere The Stichting Manhuistuinconcerten (Manhuistuin Concerts Foundation) organizes weekly concerts in the garden, offering a stage for amateur orchestras and choirs from Goes and the surrounding regions. These concerts provide free musical entertainment for all ages, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment. Concerts are held on Sundays during the months of May, June, July and September. In case of bad weather, the concerts are moved to the nearby Heilige Maria Magdalena church. The old men's home itself has a rich history, dating back to 1656 when it was built to house elderly men. The building was later used as a music school and underwent restoration in the 1980s. Today, the building has been transformed into a boutique hotel, blending history with modern comfort. The Manhuistuin stands as a reminder of the city's past, while also serving as a vibrant cultural hub for the present.
