Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the town of Zhemgang. Head northeast on the main road (Zhemgang - Trongsa Highway) for approximately 30 kilometers. You will reach a junction; take the left turn toward Bumthang. Continue on this road for about 5 kilometers until you see a sign for Do Zam. Turn left and follow the road for another 2 kilometers until you reach the Bumthang Chhu River, where Do Zam is located. Ensure your vehicle is in good condition as some sections may be steep and winding.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, look for a local minibus or shared taxi service that operates from Zhemgang to Bumthang. Buses usually depart from the main bus terminal in Zhemgang. The journey will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on road conditions. Inform the driver that you want to get off at the Do Zam area near the Bumthang Chhu River. After disembarking, it’s a short walk of about 15 minutes to reach the exact location of Do Zam along the riverbank.
Hiking
If you're feeling adventurous, consider hiking from Zhemgang to Do Zam. This route will take you through scenic landscapes but requires a good level of fitness. Start your hike from Zhemgang, following the river trail northeast towards Bumthang. It's approximately a 12-kilometer trek that could take you 4 to 5 hours. Bring plenty of water and snacks, and ensure you have a detailed map or a GPS device, as the trail may not be well-marked.
