Discover more about Crooked Bridge

The Crooked Bridge, locally known as Kriva Ćuprija, is a delightful stone bridge that graces the Radobolja River in Mostar. Constructed in 1558 during Ottoman rule, it stands as the oldest single-arch bridge in Mostar. Designed by Ottoman architect Ćejvan Ketoda, the bridge is a miniature version of the famous Stari Most (Old Bridge), located just a short distance away. The bridge features a semicircular arch with a diameter of 8.56 meters and a height of 4.15 meters, connecting the banks of the Radobolja with its elegant span. Stone steps lead up to the bridge, and its footpath is paved with cobblestones, adding to its historic charm. The Crooked Bridge is nestled in the quaint Jusovina neighborhood, offering a serene experience away from the bustling crowds of the Old Bridge area. While it may be smaller than its more famous counterpart, the Crooked Bridge possesses its own unique allure. Some believe it served as a trial run for the construction of the Old Bridge. In December 2000, the bridge was destroyed by severe floods but was reconstructed in 2001 with funding from UNESCO and the Duchy of Luxembourg, reaffirming its importance as a cultural landmark. Today, the Crooked Bridge is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a National Monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina, celebrated for its historical significance and architectural beauty.
