Dominating the skyline above Mostar, the Millennium Cross (Milenijski Križ) is a striking symbol visible from every part of the city. Perched atop Hum Hill, at 436 meters above sea level, the 33-meter-high reinforced concrete cross was erected in 2000 to commemorate the jubilee of two thousand years of Christianity. The height is said to represent the age of Jesus Christ at the time of crucifixion. The cross has become a significant landmark, offering visitors a unique glimpse into the region's rich history and heritage. While the cross is a Roman Catholic symbol and has been perceived by some as a provocation, it stands as a testament to the city's suffering and resilience throughout history. Visitors are drawn to this site not only for its religious significance but also for the breathtaking panoramic views it provides of Mostar and its stunning natural surroundings. From the summit, one can see the charming architecture of Mostar, including the iconic Stari Most (Old Bridge), and the Neretva River winding through the valley. The area surrounding the Millennium Cross is rich in history and culture, making it an essential stop for any tourist eager to explore the heritage of Mostar.
