Discover more about Mostar Peace Bell Tower

Rising 107 meters above Mostar, the Peace Bell Tower is a dominant feature of the city's skyline and a testament to its enduring spirit. Located next to the Franciscan Church of Saint Peter and Paul, the tower stands on the site of the original bell tower that was destroyed in 1992 during the war. Reconstructed, it now serves as a symbol of peace, reconciliation, and the rebirth of Mostar. The tower's architecture blends traditional and modern elements, using concrete and stone to create a minimalist yet imposing structure. Rectangular openings allow light to filter through, adding depth and dimension, especially during sunset. Inside, visitors can ascend via an elevator to a certain height, then climb approximately 150 steps to reach the viewing platform. From the top, a breathtaking 360-degree panoramic view unfolds, showcasing the Old Bridge (Stari Most), the Neretva River, the surrounding mountains, and the city's historical and cultural landmarks. The tower houses five original bells from 1927 and two newer ones from 2015, offering a unique auditory experience when they toll. The Peace Bell Tower is more than just a viewpoint; it's a place to reflect on Mostar's past and its journey toward a peaceful future.
