Discover more about Buza Gate

Buza Gate, or Vrata od Buže, is a northern entrance to Dubrovnik's Old Town, offering a distinctive alternative to the more frequented Pile and Ploče Gates. Opened in 1908 during Austrian rule, its name, meaning 'hole' or 'gap', reflects its less formal origin. Unlike the main gates, Buza wasn't historically a primary entrance but rather a convenient passage for locals. Today, Buza Gate provides access from the Iza Grada street, leading down steps through Peline to Prijeko, and eventually to Stradun, the Old Town's main promenade. While the descent involves numerous steps, it's a handy entry point for those arriving from the north or parking in the Iza Grada area. The gate is also known for its proximity to the cliffside Buza Bar, offering breathtaking views of the Adriatic Sea. Buza Gate provides a unique perspective on Dubrovnik, blending historical intrigue with stunning natural beauty. Its location makes it a must-see for any visitor seeking a different experience of the Old Town.
