Discover more about Brunei Energy Hub Dermaga Diraja

The Brunei Energy Hub Dermaga Diraja, also known as the Royal Wharf, offers a fascinating glimpse into Brunei's energy sector and its impact on the nation. The museum is housed in the historically significant Royal Customs and Excise Building, dating back to the 1950s. This building initially served as a wharf for administrative purposes, overseeing the import and export of goods. Over time, the building's purpose evolved. In 2007, it was converted into an art gallery. Recognizing its historical value, it was later transformed into an interactive oil and gas museum, officially opening as the Brunei Energy Hub Dermaga Diraja on October 23, 2022. The renovation was sponsored by Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP). The museum features four exhibition galleries curated by Brunei Shell Petroleum and the Museums Department. Visitors can explore Brunei's history before the discovery of oil in 1929, gain insights into the modern energy industry, and learn about strategies for a sustainable and affordable energy future. Interactive exhibits, including augmented reality experiences and tactile displays, engage visitors of all ages. The museum also includes a cafeteria, souvenir shop, and viewing deck. The fourth gallery serves as a temporary art gallery to support the local creative industry. Located in the heart of Bandar Seri Begawan, the Energy Hub is easily accessible and offers a unique opportunity to understand Brunei's economic backbone. With its blend of historical architecture and modern exhibits, the Brunei Energy Hub Dermaga Diraja is a must-see attraction for anyone interested in Brunei's past, present, and future.
