Walking
If you are in downtown Bakersfield, head west on 18th Street towards Chester Avenue. Turn left onto Chester Avenue and continue walking south until you reach the intersection with 24th Street. From there, turn right onto 24th Street and continue until you reach the Kern River Parkway entrance at Oak Street. The parkway will be on your left, and you can enter to enjoy the scenic views and walking trails.
Public Transit
To get to Kern River Parkway via public transit, start by locating the nearest bus stop. Take the Golden Empire Transit (GET) bus Route 1 from the downtown area. Ride the bus until you reach the stop at 24th Street and Oak Street. From there, walk east on Oak Street, and you will find the entrance to Kern River Parkway directly ahead. The parkway is a short walk from the bus stop.
Biking
If you prefer to bike, you can rent a bike from a local rental shop in downtown Bakersfield. Head west on 18th Street, then turn left onto Chester Avenue. Continue south and merge onto 24th Street, cycling until you reach Oak Street. Turn left on Oak Street, and you will find the entrance to Kern River Parkway on your left. The biking paths inside the parkway offer a scenic route along the river.
