Walking
From the center of Carmel-by-the-Sea, head southeast on Ocean Avenue towards San Carlos Street. Continue straight for about 0.5 miles until you reach the junction with Highway 1. Cross the highway and follow the pedestrian path along the side of the road. After approximately 1 mile, you will see signs for Capitola. Continue straight and you will arrive at Capitola State Beach. The beach will be on your right.

Public Transport
Start at the nearest bus stop in Carmel-by-the-Sea, which is located on Ocean Avenue. Take the Monterey-Salinas Transit (MST) bus line 20 towards Watsonville. The bus will take you directly to Capitola. Get off at the Capitola Village stop, and from there, it’s a short 5-minute walk to Capitola State Beach. Head east on Capitola Avenue, then turn left onto Esplanade. The beach will be at the end of Esplanade.
