From downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea, head southeast on Ocean Avenue towards San Carlos Street. Turn left onto San Carlos Street and continue until you reach 8th Avenue. Turn right onto 8th Avenue and walk straight until you hit the junction with Carmel Beach. Continue walking along the beach path that leads toward the north. Follow the coastline until you reach the scenic Highway 1. From there, you can find signs directing you to McWay Falls, which is located about 30 minutes north along the coastal trail. If you prefer biking, rent a bike from one of the local shops in Carmel. Start at the intersection of Ocean Avenue and San Carlos Street. Head southeast on Ocean Avenue and turn left onto San Carlos Street. Continue until you reach 8th Avenue, then turn right. Follow 8th Avenue until it meets the beach. Continue along the coastal bike path, which will eventually lead you to the Highway 1. Keep an eye out for signs guiding you to McWay Falls, located approximately 30 minutes up the coast.
