Getting There

  • Car

    If you are starting from the South Lake Tahoe area, head southeast on US-50 E towards Stateline. Continue on US-50 E for about 6 miles. Take the exit toward CA-89 S, and merge onto CA-89 S. After about 3 miles, turn left onto Mount Tallac Trail. There will be a sign for Mount Tallac Trailhead. Follow the road to the parking area where you can leave your car.

    From the South Lake Tahoe Transit Center, take the Blue Line bus heading to Stateline. Get off at the stop at Al Tahoe Blvd and US-50. From there, you can walk to the intersection of Al Tahoe Blvd and CA-89, which is about a 20-minute walk. Once you reach CA-89, you will need to walk approximately 2 miles south to reach the Mount Tallac Trailhead. It's advisable to check the local bus schedules in advance as they may vary.
