Walking
From La Jolla Cove, walk south along Coast Boulevard. Shell Beach is located at the southern end of Ellen Browning Scripps Park, about a 0.5-mile walk. Look for the 'Shell Beach' sign and a staircase leading down to the beach. Be careful navigating the rocks at the bottom of the stairs.
Public Transport
From downtown San Diego, take the MTS bus route 30 to the Silverado St & Herschel Av stop. From there, walk towards the coast to Ellen Browning Scripps Park and follow the path south to Shell Beach. A one-way bus fare is approximately $2.50.
Driving
From I-5, take the La Jolla Village Drive exit and head west. Turn right onto Torrey Pines Road, then left onto Coast Boulevard. Parking is available along Coast Boulevard, but spots fill up quickly. Parking is free, but is typically limited to 1-3 hours. The closest paid parking lot is in the La Jolla Financial Building on Prospect Street.
