Discover more about The Sword in the Stone

In the heart of Fantasyland at Disneyland, in front of King Arthur Carrousel, lies The Sword in the Stone, an enchanting attraction inspired by the tales of King Arthur and the 1963 Disney film of the same name. Since its installation in 1983, guests have been drawn to the golden anvil where Excalibur is lodged, eager to test their strength and discover if they are the 'rightwise ruler'. Based on the classic story, the sword bears the inscription: 'Whoso pulleth out this sword of this stone and anvil is rightwise ruler born of England'. While the sword is not fully removable for safety reasons, a lucky few may find the sword partially released, offering a memorable photo opportunity. In the past, a Merlin character would host a ceremony, selecting guests to attempt to pull the sword, adding to the immersive experience. Whether you succeed in budging the sword or not, The Sword in the Stone remains a beloved spot for guests of all ages, embodying the magic and fantasy that define Disneyland. It serves as a reminder of the timeless themes of courage, truth, and the potential for greatness that lies within us all.
