Discover more about Belmont Park

Belmont Park, a charmingly old-school amusement park, has been a San Diego's Mission Beach staple since 1925. Developed by sugar magnate John D. Spreckels, it was originally intended to boost land sales in Mission Beach. Today, it attracts millions of visitors each year with its blend of classic and modern attractions. The park's most iconic ride is the Giant Dipper, a historic wooden roller coaster that has been designated as a National Historic Landmark. Alongside the Giant Dipper, Belmont Park features a variety of rides for all ages, including the Liberty Carousel, Beach Blaster, and bumper cars. For thrill-seekers, there's the Vertical Plunge, a three-story drop tower. Newer attractions include a zip line, a three-level Sky Ropes obstacle course, and a laser tag arena. Beyond the rides, Belmont Park offers a range of activities, including an arcade, mini-golf, and the historic Plunge, an indoor swimming pool that was once the world's largest saltwater pool. The park also has a variety of dining options, from carnival-style food to sit-down restaurants with ocean views. Belmont Park is celebrating the centennial anniversary of the Giant Dipper from May 26 to September 2, 2025, with special events, treats, and giveaways.
