Discover more about Freight House District

The Freight House District, located at 250 Evans Ave in Reno, is a year-round entertainment hub attached to the Greater Nevada Field. This lively district has transformed from the Southern Pacific Railroad Freight House, built in 1931, into a destination for concerts, festivals, and diverse attractions. Once a bustling center for railway commerce, the Freight House facilitated connections between the Southern Pacific and Western Pacific Railroads. The construction of the new freight house in 1931 was a significant upgrade that allowed for the demolition of old sheds that were blocking Center Street, finally connecting it to University Avenue. However, with the decline of railway traffic in the 1970s, the property was sold and eventually repurposed. Today, the Freight House District is known for its energetic atmosphere, blending contemporary aesthetics with the city's historical roots. Visitors can enjoy a variety of performances, from local bands to renowned artists, set against colorful lights and an enthusiastic crowd. The district also features restaurants offering diverse dining options.
