Discover more about Bronson Caves

Bronson Caves, also known as Bronson Canyon, is located in the southwest section of Griffith Park in Los Angeles. The caves weren't formed naturally; instead, they are the result of early 20th-century quarrying. In 1903, the Union Rock Company established a quarry here, then called Brush Canyon, to excavate crushed rock for the construction of city streets. The quarry ceased operations in the late 1920s, leaving behind the distinctive caves. With their rugged, remote-looking setting but easily accessible location, the Bronson Caves quickly became a prime choice for filmmakers. The caves have appeared in countless movies and television shows, particularly Westerns and science fiction productions. Perhaps the most iconic use of the caves is as the entrance to the Batcave in the 1960s Batman television series. The caves have also been featured in films such as 'The Phantom of the Opera' (1925), 'Flash Gordon' (1936), and 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' (1956). Today, Bronson Caves are a popular destination for hikers, photographers, and movie enthusiasts. The hike to the caves is short and relatively easy, making it suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Visitors can explore the caves, enjoy the surrounding scenery, and imagine themselves in their favorite movies and TV shows. The caves also offer stunning views of the Hollywood Sign and the Los Angeles skyline.
