LA Memorial Coliseum: A Century of Sporting History

The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, located in Exposition Park, is more than just a stadium; it's a living monument to sports and entertainment history. Commissioned in 1921 as a memorial to Los Angeles veterans of World War I, it opened in 1923 and has since become one of the world's most iconic venues. The Coliseum is the only stadium in the world to have hosted two Summer Olympics (1932 and 1984), two Super Bowls (I and VII), and a World Series (1959). It will add to this legacy when it hosts its third Summer Olympics in 2028. It has also welcomed visits from three U.S. Presidents and a Papal Mass by Pope John Paul II. The stadium has been the home field for the USC Trojans since 1923 and has housed several professional sports teams, including the Los Angeles Rams, Dodgers, Chargers, and Raiders. Today, the LA Memorial Coliseum continues to host a variety of events, including USC Trojans football games, concerts, and other major sporting events.
