Getting There

  • Shuttle

    The easiest way to reach the Lower Yosemite Fall Trailhead is by using the free Yosemite Valley Shuttle. Take either the Valleywide or East Valley Shuttle to Shuttle Stop #6, which is located near the trailhead. Shuttles operate from 7 AM to 10 PM, with buses arriving every 8-22 minutes depending on the route. This service is free.

  • Walking

    From Yosemite Valley Visitor Center, follow the bicycle path west for approximately 0.5 miles (0.8 km) to reach the Lower Yosemite Fall Trailhead. The walk is easy and offers scenic views of the valley. Alternatively, from Yosemite Village, walk 0.25 miles west to the trailhead. This is a good option if you are already in the eastern part of Yosemite Valley.

  • Driving

    If driving, parking is available at Yosemite Village, near Yosemite Valley Lodge, and in the day-use lot east of Yosemite Valley Lodge. However, parking in Yosemite Valley can be challenging, especially during peak season. Arrive early to secure a spot. From the parking areas, follow signs to the Lower Yosemite Fall Trailhead. Be aware that Northside Drive is a one-way road.

In 1869, John Muir built a cabin near the base of the falls while working at a sawmill.
