The Preah Norodom Sihanouk-Angkor Museum, located in Siem Reap, is dedicated to preserving and showcasing Cambodia's rich cultural heritage. The museum was established in 2008 as a joint effort between the Apsara Authority, Sophia University, and with funding from AEON. Its initial purpose was to preserve and exhibit artifacts discovered at the Banteay Kdei Temple, but the collection has since expanded to include items from other sites in the Angkor region. At any time, the museum displays around 300 significant pieces from its 3,000-strong collection. The museum's exhibits include Buddha statues, intricate stone carvings, ancient pottery, and historical documents. The museum also features collections of pottery and ancient art. Highlights include the “Thousand Buddha” pillar, sacred turtles of Srah Srang, and a collection of Buddha on Naga statues. The museum also displays archaeological remains, including skulls dating back to the Bronze Age. The building's architecture blends traditional Khmer design with modern aesthetics. Informative plaques in multiple languages accompany each exhibit. Guided tours are available. The museum is open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM every day except Monday.
