Discover more about Pueblo Riverwalk

The Historic Arkansas Riverwalk of Pueblo (HARP) is more than just a pretty waterfront; it's a symbol of the city's resilience and revitalization. Following the catastrophic flood of 1921, which devastated downtown Pueblo, the Arkansas River was rerouted. Nearly 60 years later, community leaders envisioned bringing the river back to the heart of the city, sparking a transformative project. The Riverwalk officially opened in 2000 and has since become a central gathering place and a key driver of economic growth. Spanning 32 acres, the Riverwalk features a mile-long channel with landscaped areas, public art installations, and various businesses. Visitors can explore the area on foot, taking in the sights and learning about the city's history, particularly the Great Pueblo Flood. Excursion boats offer guided tours that delve into the history of the river and the flood, while pedal boats provide a leisurely way to enjoy Lake Elizabeth. The Riverwalk hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including concerts, festivals, and holiday celebrations. The HARP Authority and Foundation manage the Riverwalk, continually expanding its offerings and ensuring it remains a vibrant asset for the community. The recent HARP 1A Expansion Project, with a new boathouse and extended river channel, is set to enhance recreational opportunities.
