Discover more about Abidjan Ivory Coast Temple

The Abidjan Ivory Coast Temple stands as a testament to faith and architectural beauty in the Riviera district of Abidjan. Dedicated on May 25, 2025, by Elder Ronald A. Rasband, this temple is the first of its kind in Ivory Coast and the seventh on the African continent. The temple's design, crafted by FFKR Architects, showcases a Mid-Century Modern style that blends seamlessly with traditional Latter-day Saint temple aesthetics. The 3.23-acre grounds feature meticulously manicured gardens, paver walkways, and a serene gathering plaza, creating a tranquil environment for reflection. The temple's exterior is adorned with a palladium-leafed statue of the angel Moroni, symbolizing the restoration of the Church. Inside, the 17,362-square-foot temple houses two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry, providing a sacred space for members to participate in essential religious ordinances. While the temple itself is reserved for members with a temple recommend, the grounds are open to the public, inviting visitors to experience the peace and beauty of the surroundings. The construction of the Abidjan Ivory Coast Temple marks a significant milestone for the Church in the region. Missionary work officially began in Côte d'Ivoire in 1988, and the Church has since experienced remarkable growth. For many years, members traveled to the Accra Ghana Temple, a challenging 12-hour journey, to participate in temple services. The Abidjan Temple now provides a closer and more accessible place of worship for members in Ivory Coast and neighboring countries.
