Architectural elements, including wooden beams and traditional design motifs, have been preserved through centuries. The Aron Hakodesh, crafted from black and white marble in the Classicist style, faces Jerusalem.The synagogue has endured periods of destruction and revival. During World War II, Italian Fascists ransacked the sanctuary, destroying religious objects. The Nazis and Ustaše then deported the remaining Jews, with over half perishing. The synagogue was restored after the war and has undergone renovations since.Today, the Split Synagogue serves as a place of worship and a testament to the enduring spirit of the Jewish community.
