Discover more about Shete Boka National Park

Shete Boka National Park, meaning 'seven inlets' in Papiamentu, is a stunning protected area where the raw power of nature is on full display. Established in 1994, the park encompasses nearly 10 kilometers of Curaçao's wave-battered northern coast, offering a sanctuary for wildlife and a dramatic landscape for visitors. While the name suggests seven inlets, the park actually features around ten distinct 'bokas' or coves, each with its own unique character. The park's dramatic scenery is shaped by the relentless pounding of waves against the limestone cliffs. This constant erosion has created a series of natural bridges, caves, and blowholes, offering breathtaking views and thrilling displays of natural power. Among the most iconic spots are Boka Tabla, where visitors can descend into an underground cave to witness the waves crashing inside , and Boka Pistol, famous for its powerful blowhole that shoots water high into the air with a sound like a cannon. Boka Wandomi features a picturesque natural bridge carved by the waves. Shete Boka is also an important nesting site for three species of sea turtles: Hawksbill, Loggerhead, and Green turtles. During the nesting season, which runs from May to December, researchers monitor the beaches for turtle activity, highlighting the park's crucial role in sea turtle conservation. Visitors may even be lucky enough to witness turtles laying their eggs at Boka Kalki. The park offers two main hiking trails, the Boka Wandomi trail and the Boka Pistol trail, allowing visitors to explore the coastline and experience its beauty up close. The trails lead to various viewpoints, showcasing the rugged landscape and the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea.
