Discover more about Curaçao Sea Aquarium

The Curaçao Sea Aquarium, a cornerstone of Curaçao's tourism since 1984, offers an unparalleled opportunity to explore the vibrant marine ecosystems of the Caribbean. Founded by Adrian “Dutch” Schrier with the vision of bringing the ocean's wonders closer to the public, the aquarium has evolved into a multidimensional marine park that combines entertainment, education, and conservation. Located directly on the oceanfront, the aquarium distinguishes itself with its unique open-water system. This innovative approach pumps fresh seawater directly into the aquaria, creating a natural and thriving environment for its inhabitants. This system ensures that the marine life, including over 400 creatures representing diverse Caribbean species, lives in conditions closely mimicking their natural habitat. The result is a vibrant and dynamic display of marine biodiversity that captivates visitors of all ages. The aquarium is home to a wide array of marine life, from colorful tropical fish and delicate seahorses to majestic sea turtles and impressive sharks. The exhibits are designed to showcase different marine ecosystems, including seagrass beds, mangrove forests, and shallow and deep-water reefs. Each habitat is carefully recreated to provide an authentic glimpse into the underwater world, allowing visitors to appreciate the complexity and beauty of these environments. Beyond its stunning exhibits, the Curaçao Sea Aquarium offers a range of interactive experiences that set it apart from traditional aquariums. Visitors can participate in animal feeding sessions, where they can help feed sharks, stingrays, and flamingos under the supervision of trained staff. For a more immersive experience, the aquarium offers animal encounters, allowing guests to swim with dolphins, snorkel with sea turtles, and even dive with sharks. These encounters provide unforgettable opportunities to connect with marine life and learn about their behavior and conservation needs. The facility hosts regular educational programs and presentations that highlight the importance of preserving marine ecosystems and the challenges faced by ocean wildlife. Through informative displays and guided tours, visitors can learn about the threats facing coral reefs, the impact of pollution on marine life, and the steps they can take to protect the ocean. The aquarium also collaborates with local conservation organizations to support research and conservation efforts in the region. One of the aquarium's unique attractions is the Ocean Lens, an underwater observatory that allows visitors to descend 5.2 meters below sea level without getting wet. This submarine-like chamber provides a panoramic view of the surrounding marine life, offering a unique perspective on the underwater world. The Ocean Lens tour also includes a behind-the-scenes look at the aquarium's open-water system, providing insights into the facility's innovative approach to marine conservation. In addition to its marine exhibits and interactive experiences, the Curaçao Sea Aquarium offers a range of amenities to enhance the visitor experience.
