The waterfall derives its name from a Scottish expedition in 1878 who were reminded of Scotland, historically known as Caledonia, due to the area's beauty. The waterfall itself is one of the highest in Cyprus, with water cascading down from a height of 12 meters. The surrounding area is covered in lush forest, offering a cool and shady escape, especially welcome during the hot summer months. Getting There

Walking
From the center of Pano Platres, follow the main road towards the Troodos Mountains. Look for signs indicating the Caledonian Waterfall or 'Psilo Dendro'. The walk is approximately 2 km and mostly uphill, taking around 30-40 minutes. Alternatively, take the shorter route from Aedonion road, near the trout farm, which leads directly to the waterfall in about 20 minutes. Note that the final approach to the waterfall involves navigating some rocky steps.
