Latchi Harbour, or Latsi, is a picturesque harbor and marina located in the Polis Chrysochous region on the northwest coast of Cyprus. Once a small fishing harbor, Latchi has evolved into a vibrant hub with a unique blend of traditional charm and modern amenities. The harbor's name is derived from the Greek word "lakki," meaning water hole or well, reflecting its historical significance as a source of refreshment for farmers and their livestock. Today, Latchi Harbour serves as a gateway to the Akamas Peninsula, a protected area known for its natural beauty and diverse flora and fauna. Visitors can explore the Akamas coastline by boat, discovering hidden coves and the famous Blue Lagoon with its crystal-clear turquoise waters. The harbor itself is home to a mix of fishing boats, yachts, and tourist vessels, creating a lively and colorful scene. The waterfront is lined with restaurants and tavernas, many converted from old carob warehouses, offering fresh seafood and traditional Cypriot cuisine. Latchi is known for its fish meze, a selection of various fish dishes, providing a taste of the local flavors. The harbor also provides essential services such as boat repairs, fuel stations and underwater maintenance. Recent upgrades and expansions aim to enhance the port's infrastructure, increasing its capacity and modernizing its facilities. Despite these developments, Latchi has retained its intimate atmosphere, making it a popular destination for those seeking a relaxing and authentic Cypriot experience.
