    Discover more about Lobkowicz Palace

The Lobkowicz Palace, located in the Prague Castle complex, stands as a testament to Czech history and culture. As the only privately-owned building within the Prague Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the palace offers a unique perspective on Bohemian and European history through the eyes of the Lobkowicz family. Built in the mid-16th century by the nobleman Jaroslav of Pernštejn, the palace later came into the possession of the Lobkowicz family through marriage. Over the centuries, the palace witnessed significant historical events, including the Defenestration of Prague in 1618. Confiscated twice during the 20th century by the Nazi and Communist regimes, it was eventually restituted to the Lobkowicz family in 2002. In 2007, the family opened the palace to the public as a museum. The Lobkowicz Palace Museum showcases a selection of the Lobkowicz Collections, one of Europe's oldest and finest private art collections. The 22 galleries display masterpieces by artists such as Canaletto, Bruegel the Elder, and Velázquez, as well as decorative arts, musical instruments, and original manuscripts by Mozart and Beethoven. An audio guide, narrated by members of the Lobkowicz family, enriches the visitor experience. Beyond the museum, the palace also hosts classical music concerts in its Baroque Concert Hall, featuring exquisite 17th-century frescoes. The Lobkowicz Palace Restaurant & Café offers panoramic views of Prague, providing a perfect spot to relax and enjoy Czech and international cuisine.
