Discover more about Trap Pond Boat Rental

Discover the enchanting beauty of Trap Pond State Park from a unique vantage point with Trap Pond Boat Rental. Nestled within the park, this boat rental service provides access to the northernmost naturally occurring baldcypress swamp in the United States. As you paddle through the tranquil waters, you'll be surrounded by towering baldcypress trees, easily identified by their broad, fluted bases and feathery leaves which turn a glossy cinnamon color in the fall. The history of Trap Pond is intertwined with the harvesting of these rot-resistant cypress trees, which began in the 18th century. In the late 1800s, the area was dammed to power a sawmill, forming the pond we see today. Now, instead of timber, visitors come to explore the unique ecosystem and enjoy the abundant plant, fish, and bird species that call Trap Pond home. Whether you're a seasoned paddler or a first-timer, Trap Pond Boat Rental offers an unforgettable experience. Explore the marked water trails, including the popular Terrapin Branch Water Trail, which leads into a dense cypress swamp. Keep an eye out for the distinctive cypress knees, unique protrusions from the root systems that rise above the water. You might spot great blue herons, owls, warblers, and even bald eagles. With over nine miles of water trails, Trap Pond is a paddling dream.
