Rømødæmningen
Rømødæmningen is a 9.2 km-long road causeway linking the island of Rømø with mainland Jutland, cutting straight across the tidal flats of the UNESCO-listed Wadden Sea. Built between 1939 and 1948 as a major engineering and employment project, it is Denmark’s longest road embankment and a striking place to watch shifting tides, birdlife and big West Coast skies. Simple roadside lay-bys let you stop, step out into the wind and feel suspended between land and sea.
