Discover more about Red Rocks

Red Rocks, located just south of Calibishie in the Saint Andrew Parish, is one of Dominica's most captivating natural attractions. This geological wonder overlooks Grand Baptiste Bay and showcases the island's volcanic origins. The rocks are primarily composed of volcanic material, including tuff, hardened ash, and basalt. The fiery red hues result from iron oxide in the volcanic rock. Over millennia, wind, rain, and ocean waves have sculpted the rocks into dramatic cliffs, plateaus, and ridges. The interplay between volcanic activity and erosion has created a visually stunning landscape. Red Rocks is part of the historic Pointe Baptiste Estate, a 25-acre property established in 1930. Visitors can explore lush gardens with diverse plants, orchids, and medicinal flora. The estate also houses the Pointe Baptiste Chocolate Factory, offering tours and tastings of artisanal chocolates made from locally grown cocoa. Nearby beaches, including Black Beach, add to the area's charm. Standing on Red Rocks, visitors are treated to panoramic views of Grand Baptiste Bay and the Caribbean Sea. The vibrant red cliffs contrasting with the azure waters create a breathtaking spectacle, especially at sunset. Short rocky trails lead to hidden rock formations, a cozy cave, and an intimate white sand beach.
