Start from the center of Dire Dawa, specifically from the main market area. Head east towards the main road, which is called Haile Selassie Avenue. Walk along this avenue for about 10-15 minutes until you reach the intersection with the road leading to the outskirts of the city. Turn left at the intersection and continue walking straight for approximately 20 minutes. You will notice signs indicating the direction to Gash Abe Mountain as you approach the area. The path will gradually incline as you get closer to the mountain.

As you continue your walk, you will come across a local bus station. This could be a good place to ask locals for further directions if needed. After passing the bus station, keep walking straight until you reach a fork in the road. At this fork, take the right path which leads directly toward the mountain. The walk from this point will be more scenic, surrounded by local flora and some small streams.

After about 30 minutes, you will start to see the base of Gash Abe Mountain ahead. The last part of the journey includes a bit of climbing, so be prepared for a moderate hike. Follow the marked trails leading up to the mountain's summit, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding area.
