Travel Guide to Lappeenranta Fortress

Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from anywhere in the Finnish Lakeland, head towards Lappeenranta by following the E18 highway. Depending on your starting point, you may need to navigate through local roads to access the E18. Once on the E18, continue southeast towards Lappeenranta. As you approach Lappeenranta, take the exit towards the city center (Exit 63). Follow directions to Kristiinankatu, where Lappeenranta Fortress is located. The fortress is at Kristiinankatu 3-5, 53900 Lappeenranta. Parking is available nearby, but be aware of possible parking fees.

• Public Transportation - Bus

  To reach Lappeenranta Fortress using public transportation, first find a bus service that operates from your location to Lappeenranta. You can check the local bus schedule on the Matkahuolto website or app. Once you arrive at the Lappeenranta bus station, exit the bus and walk towards the city center. The fortress is approximately a 15-minute walk from the bus station. Head northeast on Valtakatu, then turn right onto Kristiinankatu. The fortress will be on your left at Kristiinankatu 3-5. Keep in mind to check for the latest bus fares and schedules.

• Public Transportation - Train

  If you are taking a train, first board a train to Lappeenranta at your nearest railway station. Once you arrive at the Lappeenranta train station, exit and head towards the city center. The fortress is about a 20-minute walk from the train station. Start by walking north on Ratakatu, then turn left onto Valtakatu, and finally right onto Kristiinankatu. Lappeenranta Fortress will be on your left at Kristiinankatu 3-5. Don't forget to check the train schedules on the VR website and purchase your ticket prior to departure.
