From Ruka, head east on Ruka Road (Rukantie) for approximately 7 km. Follow the signs towards Kuusamo and continue until you reach the junction with the E63 highway. Merge onto E63 towards Kuusamo. After about 15 km, take the exit toward 'Karhunkierros' and follow the signs. You will need to park your car at the nearest designated parking area, as the Porontimajoki Open Wilderness Hut is located in a wilderness area with no direct road access.

From the parking area, start your hike towards the Porontimajoki Open Wilderness Hut. The hut is located approximately 6 km away from the parking area. The hike may take around 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace.
