Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car within Everglades National Park, start from the Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center. Head south on the Main Park Road (State Road 9336) for about 14 miles. Continue until you reach the intersection with Palm Drive (State Road 9336), then turn left. After about 2.5 miles, you'll reach Research Road; turn right onto Research Road. The HM69 Nike Missile Base is located approximately 1.5 miles down this road on your left. There is no entry fee for the site itself, but ensure you have paid any park entrance fees.

• Public Transportation

  Using public transportation is a bit more complex as there are limited options in the Everglades area. The closest public transit option would be to take a bus from Homestead. You can take the Miami-Dade Transit Bus Route 38 from the Homestead area to the nearest stop at the entrance of Everglades National Park. From there, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you to HM69 Nike Missile Base. It’s advisable to book the taxi in advance, as rideshare options may not be readily available in this remote area.

• Bicycle

  For the adventurous, biking is an option if you are staying near the park. Rent a bicycle in Homestead and ride towards Everglades National Park. From the entrance, bike south on the Main Park Road, then follow the directions provided for car navigation. Be prepared for a total distance of about 20 miles one way, and ensure you have enough water and supplies for the trip.
