The Théâtre de l'Union is a cultural landmark in Limoges, France, deeply rooted in the city's history and dedicated to contemporary theatrical creation. The building itself has an interesting past, beginning as a workers' cooperative called the Union de Limoges in the early 20th century. It later transformed into the first cinema in Limoges, reflecting its evolving role in the community.In 1989, the building was renovated and reborn as the Théâtre de l'Union, becoming a Centre Dramatique National (CDN). CDNs are a network of theaters responsible for producing, co-producing, and sharing theatrical works with the widest possible audience. The Théâtre de l'Union distinguishes itself through its commitment to contemporary creation, actively supporting the artists it produces and co-produces. The theater includes workshops for set and costume design, as well as various spaces dedicated to artistic creation.Today, the Théâtre de l'Union continues to be a driving force in the region's cultural landscape, under the direction of Aurélie Van Den Daele. The theater's programming includes a wide range of performances, from classical plays to contemporary dance, and it frequently hosts both local and international artists. The Théâtre de l'Union also houses the École Supérieure de Théâtre de l'Union, further solidifying its role as a center for theatrical arts.

    Walking

    The Théâtre de l'Union is located at 20 Rue des Coopérateurs in Limoges. From the Gare de Limoges-Bénédictins, it's approximately a 15-minute walk. Exit the station and walk straight along Avenue de la Libération, then turn right onto Boulevard Gambetta. Continue onto Rue Jean Jaurès, then turn left onto Rue des Coopérateurs. The theater will be on your left.

    Public Transport

    From the Gare de Limoges-Bénédictins, walk to the bus stop 'Gare Routière' located right outside the station. Take Bus Line 5 towards 'Zénith' and get off at 'Jardin de l'Évêché' stop. From the bus stop, walk straight down Rue des Écoles, then turn left onto Rue des Coopérateurs. Théâtre de l'Union will be at number 20. A single bus ticket is valid for one hour. Tickets can be purchased on board. A single ticket costs around €1.60.
