From the Strasbourg train station (Gare de Strasbourg), take tram line A towards 'Illkirch-Graffenstaden'. Get off at the 'Homme de Fer' stop. From there, transfer to tram line D towards 'Kehl'. Get off at 'Kehl Bahnhof'. Once at Kehl Bahnhof, look for bus line 243 towards 'Baden-Baden'. This bus will take you across the border into Germany. After approximately 30 minutes, you will arrive at 'Baden-Baden, Merkuriusbahn' bus stop, which is near the Merkur Funicular Railway station.

Train and Bus
Take a train from Strasbourg to Baden-Baden. The train departs from Strasbourg train station and you will need to look for a train that goes to 'Karlsruhe' and stops at 'Baden-Baden'. Once you arrive at Baden-Baden, exit the train station and head to the bus stop outside. Take bus line 204 towards 'Baden-Baden, Merkur'. This bus will take you directly to the Merkur Funicular Railway.

If you are staying in central Strasbourg, you can walk to the nearest tram stop, 'Place de l'Étoile', and take tram line A towards 'Illkirch-Graffenstaden'. Get off at 'Homme de Fer' stop, transfer to tram line D towards 'Kehl' and get off at 'Kehl Bahnhof'. From there, catch bus line 243 to 'Baden-Baden, Merkuriusbahn'. Walk to the funicular station which is nearby.
