If you're traveling by car from Kutaisi, head southeast on the E60 highway. Continue for about 60 km until you reach the village of Aspindza. From Aspindza, take the road towards Vardzia, which is well-signposted. The drive should take approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Upon reaching Vardzia, you'll find a parking area nearby. Note that parking may incur a small fee.
Public Transportation
To reach Vardzia using public transportation, start by taking a marshrutka (minibus) from Kutaisi to Aspindza. These marshrutkas depart from the central bus station and the journey takes around 1 hour and costs about 5 GEL. Once in Aspindza, you can take a local taxi or a second marshrutka to Vardzia, which should cost around 10 GEL and take about 30 minutes. Make sure to confirm with the driver that they will take you directly to Vardzia.
Taxi
If you prefer a direct route, you can hire a taxi from Kutaisi to Vardzia. This option is more expensive, typically costing around 100-120 GEL for a one-way trip. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Ensure to agree on the fare before starting your trip.
