Getting there

Walking

From Kutaisi city center, such as the Meskhishvili Theatre, walk east along Rustaveli Avenue. Continue onto Tsereteli Street, and then turn left onto Nikoladze Street. The Boulevard Park and Colonnade will be on your right. The walk is approximately 15-20 minutes. There are no costs associated with walking.

Public Transport

From the Kutaisi Central Bus Station, take a local bus or minibus (Marshrutka) heading towards the city center. Several routes pass near the Boulevard Park. The cost is approximately 0.50-1 GEL. Alight near the Meskhishvili Theatre and walk east for about 5 minutes to reach the park. Buses and minibuses are frequent, with intervals of 5-10 minutes.

Taxi

Taxis are readily available throughout Kutaisi. A short taxi ride from the city center, such as from the Kutaisi State Historical Museum, to the Boulevard Park and Colonnade will cost approximately 3-7 GEL. Confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey. Ride-sharing apps are also available.

This attraction, located at 7PC4+G5J in Kutaisi, serves as a reminder of the cultural exchange that has shaped the region.The Colonnade's story begins with a Batumi-based doctor, Ivane Mchedlidze, who, inspired by his travels to Sorrento, Italy, in 1933-1934, brought the idea of the Colonnade to Georgia. With assistance from Maxim Gorky, the project took shape under the guidance of the city's chief architect, Pavle Nadareishvili, and was constructed in 1934 by Bogdan Kirakosiani. The structure initially served as a symbolic gateway to the sea.Today, the Colonnade stands as a cultural monument and a popular spot for both locals and tourists. Its classical design provides a scenic backdrop for leisurely strolls and photographs. The surrounding park offers a tranquil environment, making it an ideal place to unwind and appreciate Kutaisi's blend of history and natural beauty.
