Achimota Forest, Accra Travel Guide

Getting There

• Public Bus

  From the central area of Accra, head to the nearest bus terminal, such as the Kwame Nkrumah Circle. Look for a bus heading towards Achimota or Kasoa. You can ask locals for the right bus as they will guide you. The bus will take you along the George Bush Highway. Once you reach the Achimota area, disembark at the Achimota bus stop. From there, walk along Achimota College Rd for about 10 minutes until you see the entrance to Achimota Forest on your left.

• Trotro (Shared Minibus)

  From Central Accra, find a trotro station, such as the one near Osu or the Trade Fair Center. Look for a trotro heading to Achimota. Board the trotro and pay the fare (make sure you have small bills). The journey will take approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic. Once you reach the Achimota area, get off at the Achimota bus stop. Walk along Achimota College Rd for about 10 minutes until you see the entrance to Achimota Forest on your left.

• Walking

  If you are already within walking distance of Achimota, you can navigate your way to Achimota Forest by heading towards Achimota College Rd. Follow the signs to Achimota College, which is adjacent to the forest. The entrance to Achimota Forest will be visible as you approach, with pathways leading into the park.

• Motorcycle Taxi (Okada)

  For a quicker option, consider using a motorcycle taxi. You can flag down an Okada on the street or use a ride-hailing app if available. Tell the driver you want to go to Achimota Forest on Achimota College Rd. The fare should be negotiated before the ride, and it should take around 15-20 minutes from central Accra, depending on traffic.
